On Being a Mom

Sometimes we are just too busy. Despite the fact that our children sometimes change our plans and cause breaks in the day we would rather not have, they are such true blessings from The Lord. We shouldn't have to remind ourselves of that! But oftentimes we do :(
Take this morning for instance. He's almost 9. Responsible young man. I get a phone call from him at school asking me to bring his library book that he forgot. OH, and he needs it in 10 minutes. So, I get shoes on the pipsqueaks and look for a book that I have no clue where it is. I start to get frustrated and then I think about a local little girl who passed away from cancer not so long ago. I think about her mother and wonder if she wishes to get a call from Faith again. If she aches to hold her little angel once more. If something as insignificant as a forgotten library book would bring tears to her eyes.
I am humbled by The Lord every day when He reminds me that I am truly blessed. There was a time when I was told there would be no children. But here we are 14 years later with 3 of the greatest kids a Mom could ever pray for. Today, I am thankful to God for the reminder all in a library book.
 Father Jesus,
Thank you. Thank you for the joys of being a parent. Thank you for stopping my life from time to time to remind me that I have a true blessing and a true calling as a Mom first and foremost.  Amen
